New- Coconut Water Refreshing Mango Body Wash by Dial #GetNoticed

Posted in Giveaways

The summer months can often be harsh on my skin, due to the fact that I am out in the sun and not moisturizing as much as I should. When I had the opportunity to try Dial’s new Coconut Water Refreshing Mango Hydrating body wash, I was interested.  This nourishing body wash is the first of it’s kind to contain coconut water and mango.

When I opened this moisturizing body wash, I immediately noticed the great fruity scent.   It lathered really well, and  left my skin feeling hydrated and soft.   My skin actually felt as though I had used a light moisturizing lotion.  I think this body wash will definitely give me healthy skin that will get noticed.  My children also love the scent of the Coconut and Mango wash, which makes this a great family body wash.

Toopy and Binoo Animated Series & a Twitter Party!

Posted in News, Reviews, What's New

I was recently introduced to a animated series, Toopy and Binoo, geared towards the preschool audience.   Toopy and Binoo have many adventures together, while trying to teach lessons about friendship, good manners and other important values. My daughter watched several of these five minute episodes and she found them really entertaining and funny.  She guessed what would happen next, and also tried to tell Toopy and Binoo what they should do.  She is 5 and in Kindergarten, so she falls within the recommended age of 2-6, for which this program is geared towards.

If you would like to see if your child would enjoy Toopy and Binoo, they are now available for the first time to US audiences on the Toopy and Binoo TV YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/toopyandbinootv  The Toopy and Binoo series is originally from Canada, and the YouTube channel brings over 100 of the five minute episodes to US audiences. There will be a Tipoo and Binoo Twitter Party on Thursday, February 20th at 1:00PM, in which you can learn more about the show and win prizes!  Follow #ToopyandBinoo to participate.

Disclosure:  I received Toopy and Binoo products in exchange for a post about the show. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Raise a Giant: Stand Up Against Bullying With Green Giant #MyBlogSpark

Posted in News

Green Giant is currently sponsoring a “Raise a Giant” bully-prevention campaign.  This campaign focuses on encouraging children to stand up against bullying, by asking them to stop and telling an adult.  My children are only in Kindergarten and 2nd grade, and I can see how much they want to fit in and be accepted by their peers.  I know it would be devastating for them to be left out or bullied by other children.

As a Mom, I strive to keep an open line of communication with my children to make sure they are being treated well, as well as encouraging them to look out for other children.  I think it is important for parents, and those in leadership roles to raise a giant by encouraging our children to stand up for others.  It only takes one person to make a positive change for someone being bullied.

I encourage my readers to write letters to their children, and submit them to RaiseAGiant.com.   This is my letter.

To My Children,

You are optimistic and loving, usually with bright smiles on your faces.  My son, you have a calm nature and shy away from any violence.  You love science, math, animals and asking many what-if questions.  You became a vegetarian this past spring to express your love of animals.  My daughter, you are sweet and love to make new friends since you have started Kindergarten.   You enjoy playing  school and church as well as any game where you can pretend to be a teacher.  You are a great listener and you also like to speak your mind.  You should both be proud of your unique personalities, and don’t change for anyone.

I hope that you can both speak up if you see others getting bullied at school.  Bullying involves both mean words or actions to those around you.  If you see a kid being left out or upset, please offer them words of kindness.   Son, I know you have done this in the past.  If you see someone getting bullied, tell the bully to stop.  Go tell an adult.  Sometimes it only takes one person to speak up.  Be a friend.  Bullying is never OK.

I have told you about some of my struggles since I was one of the only kids with red hair and freckles in my grade school.  Kids don’t like different, and I was called names.  I told my teacher, but unfortunately not much was done.  That’s the way it was in the 1980′s. I hope in the 2010′s that you can stand up, and be a Giant for others around you that may face challenges.  I promise to always help you through any struggles as well, and to stand up for you.

Excited to go to school

Here are some helpful tips if you are looking to have a discussion about bullying with your children.
